Reece McLaren will make his One Championship return next month in Manila when the Toowoomba native squares off with Thailand’s Anatpong Bunrad.
One: Legends of the World takes place November 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. In the main event, Australia’s One Championship featherweight title holder Martin Nguyen moves up to challenge lightweight champion Eduard Folayang in a champion vs. champion clash.
McLaren (9-5 MMA, 2-2 One) opened his One Championship account in style claiming a spectacular submission victory over top bantamweight contender Mark Striegl in late 2015, following that up four months later with decision victory against Muin Gafurov. The back-to-back performances earned the 26 year-old Filipino-Australian a title shot against champion Bibiano Fernandes, however he fell just short losing a split decision to the Brazilian. McLaren last fought in August where he was stopped in the opening round at the hands former title challenger, Kevin Belingon.
McLaren will now move to the flyweight division where he’ll take on Phuket Top Team striker Anatpong Bunrad.
Much like McLaren, 31 yer-old Bunrad (5-3 MMA, 2-2 One) has seen mixed results inside the One cage and will also be eager to halt a two-fight skid come November 10, most recently dropping a split decision to Filipino Geje Eustaquio at One Championship: Dynasty of Heroes in May.
