The UFC 193 headliners are coming to Melbourne this Wednesday.
UFC president Dana White and Tom Wright, the executive vice-president and general manager of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, will host a press conference at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, September 16 with the main and co-main event fighters.
The occasion will be free and open to the public and will feature UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, along with her UFC 193 main event opponent Holly Holm. Also making the trip to Melbourne will be UFC women’s strawweight title holder Joanna Jedrzejczyk and her upcoming opponent Valerie Letourneau. The press conference will take place from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm AEST. Those interested in attending will need to complete the free registration. Doors will open to the general public at 3:00 pm.
Featuring a duo of title fights, UFC 193 takes place on Sunday, November 15 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and is predicted to be the biggest event in the promotion’s history with 70,000 fight fans expected to pack the venue. Ronda Rousey (12-0) will be looking to defend her title for the seventh straight time and continue her dominance over the women’s bantamweight division when she comes up against the unbeaten number 8-ranked Holly Holm (9-0) in the main event. Meanwhile, in the co-headliner, undefeated Polish striker and women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejcyk (10-0) faces Florida based Canadian Valerie Letourneau (8-3).
UFC 193 is also set to showcase a host of local Australian based talent including the “Super Samoan” Mark Hunt who faces Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in a rematch of their 2013 encounter, which was arguably the greatest heavyweight fight in UFC history. Among other matchups slated for the pay-per-view, Sydney based middleweight Robert Whittaker will face his toughest test to date when he comes up against longtime middleweight contender Michael Bisping.
