Australian featherweight Sara Collins has made a successful Bellator debut, picking up a submission victory over former Invicta champion Pam Sorenson last Saturday.
The two fought on the prelims of Bellator 293 in California, USA, with Collins picking up an arm bar submission in the first round after taking Sorenson down with a judo throw and securing a scarf hold position, landing strikes and eventually scoring the win.
Collins is a judo black belt and competed on the Australian national judo team for many years.
This performance raises her professional MMA record to 4-0 and earns her the second armbar finish of her MMA career. This victory also earns the Australian a place in the Bellator featherweight rankings, as Sorenson was ranked number five heading into this bout.
At the post fight press conference, Collins said she looks to be more active this year than she has in previous years.
‘Hopefully another fight this year, I’ve only had one fight a year for my whole career, so I’d like to get a year where I have at least two fight, would be nice.’ She said.
‘I just wanna keep fighting.’
