Resilience Training Centre trained Sara Collins stepped up to the main event position on late notice, and stole the show with a first-round victory against Leah McCourt on the weekend.
The bout headlined the Bellator Champions Series card which took place at the OVO Wembley Arena in London, England.
The win puts Collins in line to face Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg and made her intentions clear post-fight.
“Cyborg, I’m coming,” she told the crowd with a smirk though nothing has been announced on what Cyborg’s movements will be after she faces Larissa Pacheco in a PFL superfight next month.
A former national Judoka member, Collins dropped McCourt with a right and looked to finish it on the ground. McCourt survived the onslaught however Collins transitioned to the back where she could lock in the rear-naked choke submission to get the tap.
The end came only 2:25 into the fight. Collins is now 6-0 in her professional MMA career
It was a good night in the office for the Aussies, with Joseph Luciano locking up a nasty anaconda choke to secure a win against English fighter Steven Hill on the undercard.
The win moves Luciano’s professional MMA record to 10-2.
