Perth based heavyweight Soa Palelei looks set to return to the cage against 32 year-old Daniel Omielanczuk at the upcoming UFC event in Sydney on November 8.
News of the match-up was first revealed on MMARocks.pl last month with sources close to the bout advising Fight News Australia earlier today that they also expect the fight to take place.
In what is his second stint in the UFC, Soa Palelei (21-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will be hoping to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Jared Rosholt back in June. The two clashed in the semi-main event of the UFC Fight Night Card in New Zealand. The loss ended Palelei’s 11 fight win-streak.
Daniel Omielanczuk (16-4-1) also came undone to Jared Rosholt in his last outing, going down via unanimous decision back in April. The defeat ended his 12 fight win streak and took his UFC record to 1-1.
Over the weekend, UFC president Dana White confirmed the Octagon’s return to Sydney with the event (UFC Fight Night 55) set to be headlined by Hector Lombard (34-4-1). An opponent for Lombard has not been confirmed.
Also on the card, Anthony Perosh (14-8) is expected to face Brazilian Guto Inocente (6-3).
