Long-time top-tier local welterweight Corey Nelson comes out of retirement this Friday night at Superfight 3 in Western Sydney. As announced last month, Nelson will square off with Kiwi Beau Rawiri for the welterweight title at the show, which takes place at Club Punchbowl.
If you can’t make it on the night you can catch a live stream of the event here at Go Fight Live.
UPDATED: The Superfight 3 stream will now only be available on demand.
This fight will be Nelson’s first assignment following his retirement last September. “Major” will have the hometown crowd behind him when he takes on the visiting Kiwi, who earned his shot at the strap by outpointing David Francis in February.
“I think Beau is tough because I know Dave (Francis) can hit hard but I don’t think Beau has the tools to beat me at all, and especially in front of a packed home crowd! I’ve got shit loads of people pumped about me fighting local and are excited to come watch me fight on Superfight,” Nelson told Fight News Australia.
In the co-main event, Lithgow featherweight Paul Traish makes his third promotional appearance and will square off with hard-hitting newcomer Ciaran Dunne from Kyoshi MMA.
Also announced for the lineup, unbeaten bantamweight Trent Girdham meets local Lion’s Den Academy product George Malizis, Ben Watson comes up against Jack Ferguson and in a WMMA bout, Brace veteran Jess Doueihi faces Sydney based striker Danielle Hayes.
