Thanh Vu will make his ONE Fighting Championship return at ‘ONE FC 16: Honor & Glory’ which will take place on May 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Sydney based bantamweight will come up against highly regarded Chinese fighter Xian Ji in a fight which Vu will no doubt be desperate to win after back to back defeats in the promotion.
The show will feature the promotional debut of the undefeated former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren (12-0) who is set to meet Pro FC veteran Bakhtiyar Abbasov (11-2) in the main event.
Also slated for the event, New Zealand light heavyweight Pane Haraki (3-2) will face American ONE FC veteran Jake Butler (3-1) in his first fight under the ONE FC banner.
After an impressive promotional debut at ONE FC 7, in which the Aussie stopped Mohd Fouzein with strikes in just 63 seconds, Vu (5-3), who fights out of the Martial Arts Development gym, suffered defeats to Kevin Belingon and most recently Dae Hwan Kim at ONE FC 13 in December of last year.
A former Legend FC bantamweight champion, Xian (11-2), will debut for ONE FC riding a two-fight win streak with his last win coming against Agustin Delarmino at Legend FC 11 back in April of last year. The China Top Team product is known for his grappling prowess and with all of his wins coming by way of submission it’s not hard to see why.
