John Wayne Parr himself proclaimed Toby Smith “the new king of Australian Muay Thai” prior to fighting him last night in Melbourne, and after stopping the legendary icon of the sport with a third round elbow, the 20 year-old ‘weapon’ only solidified that position.
Originally from Perth and now based in Thailand, Smith became the WKA middleweight champion with the landmark victory while also ending the 38 year-old Parr’s eight-fight win streak.
Powerplay promotions 24 took place at the Melbourne Pavilion on 21 June. Full results from the show will be posted shortly. Live stream replay here.
