Tom Wright, the UFC Executive Vice President and General Manager for Operation in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, has been laid-off from his position with the UFC along with several colleagues from the Toronto office.
Wright was an important facet in negotiating the cage ban being lifted in Victoria, Australia last year which led to the UFC’s largest ever event at UFC 193. He was a constant visitor to Australian shores having just last month traveled to Melbourne to promote UFC Fight Night 101: Rockhold vs Souza.
It is the third straight day of layoffs with the majority in UFC’s Toronto offices receiving the news a day after several top executives in the head Las Vegas office were also let go.
The layoffs came nearly three months after it was announced that WME-IMG had purchased the UFC .
