TUF Smashes contestant Luke Newman (pictured) went down to fellow U.K fighter Ryan Scope on Saturday night when the two faced off on the BAMMA 12 card in Newcastle, England.
After being knocked out of the reality show by eventual winner Robert Whittaker in the first-round, Newman who is a Team Titan and American Top Team product was looking at bouncing back when he took on the undefeated Scope.
Newman looked in control early as he dropped Scope with a knee to the mid-section however could not force the stoppage from the top position as he unloaded with big punches. Scope remained composed, and was able to lock up the triangle to get the tap at 4:00 into the first-round.
Scope moved his professional record to 7-0 while Newman becomes the third straight fighter to lose their bouts after being released from The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs U.K show. Previously, Australian fighter Grant Blackler was upset by Pat Promrangka at Fury MMA while U.K representative Valentino Petrescu lost a close split-points decision last weekend to Lee Chadwick.
BAMMA 12 was headlined by Jim Wallhead who took his professional record to 24-7 with a first-round submission over former UFC fighter Matt Veach.
