Australia’s #12 ranked UFC Light Heavyweight Tyson Pedro hinted at his next possible opponent at today’s fan Q&A session prior to the UFC Auckland weigh-ins.
While not confirmed yet by the UFC, Pedro suggested to the crowd in attendance that his next fight would be against #9 ranked Light Heavyweight Ilir Latifi. Going 5-3 since he joined the UFC back in 2013, Latifi could very well be Pedro’s toughest opponent yet if the fight comes to fruition.
Undefeated in both his UFC and MMA careers, Pedro is coming off a strong win against the formerly undefeated Scottish fighter Paul Craig whom he finished in the first round via TKO in their fight at UFC 209 in March this year.
While the timing and location of the possible matchup with Latifi is still to be confirmed, Pedro did say that he would like to fight in Australia later this year.
“Well Sydney, I think Sydney is in November. If it works out I’d definitely like to be there 100%”.
When asked about how he would fare with the top fighters in the division such as Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, Pedro gave an honest assessment of his chances.
“It’s still very early in my career. At the moment they’d beat my ass. When I’m fighting at the moment I’m still not fighting like I’m training. So even though I’m winning, I’m still not fighting to what I think is my full potential. I’ve got a couple more fights under my sleeve before I get to that level”.
