The UFC announced this week a partnership with both Village Cinemas and Event Cinemas that will see selected events being broadcast live via satellite into 63 locations across both Australia and New Zealand.
The first event to be broadcast on the big screen will be the historic UFC 205 card with tickets available for $25 being sold both online and at the box office.
“UFC 205 is the perfect event to establish this partnership and not only is it one of the most highly anticipated cards of 2016, but may serve as one of the most spectacular big screen events in brand history” said UFC Vice President of Content David Shaw.
The move into live broadcasting by cinemas provides Australian and New Zealand fight fans with another option to experience the action live in a comfortable setting on top of both pay-per-view (PPV) at home or watching events at a pub or club.
At this stage it is unclear if the broadcast will feature any of the preliminary fights or will be restricted to the main card.
The event, headlined by the UFC Lightweight title bout between champion Eddie Alavarez and Featherweight champion Connor McGregor, takes place at Madison Square Garden on Sunday November 13th starting at 1pm (AEDT).
