Urban Fight Night 12 took place Saturday night at the Whitlam Leisure Centre in Western Sydney.
Aptly titled “Night Of Champions”, the event featured five promotional title fights in total – four amateur and one professional.
Streamed live on Facebook, UFN 12 was headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Nathan Reddy and Australian MMA veteran Jeff King.
Reddy stalked King from the opening bell, frustrating him with leg kicks and picking him apart with punches before dropping the experienced Aussie to the canvas with an uppercut. From there, Reddy finished the short-lived contest with punches.
With the victory, Reddy bounces back from his defeat at the hands of rising youngster Jim Crute at Hex FS 8.
Crafty ATT striker Josh Togo didn’t need long to claim the promotion’s professional lightweight title. Togo, who accepted the contest on just eight days notice, out struck Michael Goufas Piper with an impressive array of sniper-like strikes to win via TKO in the first round.
Togo takes his pro record to 3-0 with the victory after previously claiming two victories in the Hex Fight Series promotion.
Former amateur lightweight champion Alex Gorgees put in a dominant performance against Mirko Nuotutore to claim the first round submission.
Gorgees was on the front foot from the opening bell, stalking Nuotutore with forward pressure. Nuotutore was content to counter strike and landed a clean elbow close up for his efforts. Gorgees, however, eventually connected with a clean head kick sending Nuotutore stumbling backwards. Gorgees rushed in and unleashed with knees and punches on his dazed opponent. After getting the fight to the canvas, the Sydney fighter attempted a few submissions until finally locking up a tight triangle and choking Nuotutore unconscious.
Gorgees remains undefeated in the pro ranks with four victories and evens the ledger with Nuotutore in the process, after losing to the Legends MMA product as an amateur.
In the other pro fights from the night, SPMA trained flyweight Philip Kim took his undefeated record to 3-0 with a unanimous decision against Alby Figueroa, and Mitchell Birkett submitted Joseph Culibao with a triangle choke.
The next event from the promotion, Urban Fight Night 13, is scheduled for November 3.
