Callan Potter will look to defend his Valor welterweight title this weekend when he meets Queensland based David Butt in a bout scheduled to headline Valor 7 this weekend.
The event will be held at the Albert Hall in Launceston, Tasmania on Saturday night.
Potter captured the Valor welterweight title by wining the four-man tournament held in June 2013. There, Potter stopped Damon Upton-Greer with punches only 8-seconds in to the fight before returning later in the night to submit Nick Denholm only 41-seconds into that fight.
Since then Potter has kept his winning streak going with a first-round submission over David De Conte in Adelaide and in his last outing, the Renegade MMA trained fighter stopped Troy Resic in December. A Valor veteran with five fights to his name under the promotion, David Butt will be hoping to dethrone Potter and is comes into the fight with a first-round TKO stoppage over Damon Upton-Greer.
Former professional boxer Steven Maxwell will be looking for his second consecutive win under MMA rules when he faces Chris Drummond while Shaun Etchell comes up against Henry Pollock. Rounding off the main card, will be an all Tasmanian bout between Devonport’s Nick Rundle and Hobart’s Shaw Dean.
On the under-card, Christina Tatnell will look to keep her find form going when she faces Helen Malone. Tatnell was expected to face Belinda Sedgwick however Sedgwick pulled out of the fight and announced her retirement from the sport via facebook.
