Spaniard Sandor Martin came into the fight against Mikey Garcia as the heavy underdog but fought a great game plan to leave the venue ecstatic with a majority points decision victory over the four-division world champion. The win was Martin’s tenth straight as he propels himself up the rankings.
It’s a big derailment for Garcia’s plans to work his way back to world championship contention after a 20-month layoff. Future superfights against the likes of Devin Haney and Regis Prograis will now go on the backburner as he likely will look to get a rematch against Martin.
