In his first international bout, Australian Top Team member Gerhard Voigt lost to local Chinese fighter Song Ke Nan on the weekend but it was a better night for New Zealand fighter Luke Jumeau who progressed to the next round of the welterweight tournament.
All competed on the Rebel FC 4 event which took place at the Qingdao Sports Centre in Shandon, China on Saturday night.
Song Ke Nan entered the fight with an impressive 11-2 record and in front of his home-crowd locked on an early submission to get the tap in the first round. The bout was part of the promotion’s welterweight tournament with New Zealand fighter Luke Jumeau progressing to the next round after submitting his opponent Askar Mozharov, also in the first round.
In the other tournament bouts, David Hulett secured a TKO stoppage over James Chaney and Japanese fighter Kazuma Maruyama secured a win over Wang Yu Sheng.
On the preliminary card, Voigt’s team-mate Abel Brites secured a TKO win over Han Guojun.
