UFC 251 Fight Island is all set to go ahead at 12pm EST on Sunday, with all fighters from tomorrows main card making weight. Only one fighter from the Early Prelims, Raulian Paiva, missed weight today.
The card features three title bouts including Australian champion Alexander Volkanovski’s first title defence against Max Holloway in the Co-Main Event. Volkanovski took the belt from Holloway in December last year via unanimous decision– legacy is on the line for both men.
Headlining the event is the highly anticipated Welterweight title fight between Kamru Usman (c) and Jorge Masvidal, which was put together just seven days out from the event, after Usman’s original opponent, Gilbert Burns tested positive for COVID-19.
The event kicks of a month of fights on UFC Fight Island (Yas Island) including the return of Australian former Middleweight Champion, Robert Whittaker on 27 July. Fight News Australia is on the ground at Fight Island bringing full coverage of UFC 251.
