Sydney’s Ashkan Mokhtarian was crowned the Wollongong Wars bantamweight champion on Saturday night, stopping Melbourne based Kiwi Josh Karst in the Wollongong Wars 3 main event.
Mokhtarian, 30, got the job done by TKO in the opening round and in the process took his undefeated 2015 record to three wins. Prior to Saturday night, the Australian Top Team product submitted Chinese veteran Honggang Yao at Rebel FC 3 in China.
In the co-main event, following a 29 month hiatus, CFC veteran Rob Hill returned to competition and picked up a decision win over Lukas Catubig to take home the promotion’s lightweight title.
Among other results from the night, recently crowned AFC heavyweight champion Brandon Sosoli successfully defended his Wollongong Wars heavyweight title with a quick TKO of Mathew Wade.
Wollongong Wars 3 took place at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul, NSW.
