Queensland based promotion Xtreme Fighting Championships returns with XFC 19 set to hit the Mansfield Tavern this Saturday night. Headlining the event will be a XFC featherweight title fight between Taylor Harvey and Adrian Rodriguez. Currently the title is vacant.
“Road Rage” Rodriguez will bring a 4-1 record into the fight, with his only loss coming to Suasday Chau. Training out of the Impact MMA team alongside Jacob Mahony, Bec Hyatt and Pat Promrangka, Rodriguez is currently on a two-fight win streak with both wins coming in the XFC promotion. In his last outing, Rodriguez submitted opponent Mark Small with a first-round submission back in February.
“Hellraier” Harvey is a veteran over 40 professional Muay Thai bouts including numerous fights over in Thailand. The Sunshine Coast, Queensland based fighter picked up his first mixed martial arts win back in 2011 when he took on fellow Muay Thai fighter Majid NTG on the Evolution event.
Originally, Rodriguez was set to face XFC Bantamweight champion Michael Tobin before an injury to Tobin forced him out of the fight.
Commonwealth Games boxer Dane Mulivai will make his long awaited mixed martial arts debut on the card when he comes up against the experienced Jay Cobain in what is a XFC welterweight title contender bout. Cobain comes into the fight with only one loss in his last five bouts which includes wins over Ryan Yanz and Semir Celikovic.
Mulivai is undefeated as a professional with all three wins in boxing coming via KO or TKO. He also has a 1-0 record in kickboxing and competed under the Combat8 Rules where he defeated Matt Stapleford via KO.
In another number one contender fight, Shantaram Maharaj from the Five Rings Dojo returns to action when he faces Impact MMA fighter Mark Brady. Both will be eager to earn a shot at current XFC bantamweight title holder Michael Tobin.
An undisclosed injury has forced Haraki off the card earlier this week, with XFC officials unable to find a suitable replacement to face the experienced Api Hemara.
The event will feature a combination of both amateur and professional bouts.
